temperatures and muscles

put one hand in the snow, the other one in the ipanema sea, one barefoot on the central park grass and one high heel the cobblestones of trastevere......

that has nothing to do with the fitzgerald quote....
it's just my daily stretching excercises

NYC

It's Saturday night, NYC.
someone thinks my previous post was related to pain? oh well....sorry but not this time :) ....however....here's a sentence I collected a while ago and I think that everyone should know about. Happy saturday.

The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function.

"HEY YO SHIN KORE DO"

From the school of the Willow Heart: "The soft wins the hard''

Many centuries ago, there was a Japanese Doctor by the name of Shirobei Aiyama. He had studies many techniques of fighting of his time, and other techniques he had learned durning his trips to China where he studied traditional medicine and reanimation, with no success. Saddened by the lack of achievement he retired for 100 days to meditate in the temple of Daifazu to pray for the God Tayunin to help him to improve and bet better.

It happened one day, after a snow storm, that he observed that the weight of the snow had broken the branches of the strongest trees. His eyes then moved to a tree that was left intact: it was a willow tree, with extremely flexible branches.
Every time the snow threatened to break them, they would slightly bend, letting the snow slide down to the ground, and then get back into their normal shape.

THE ETERNAL CITY

I just got to Rome,
beautiful, warm, golden and welcoming.
I'll be here for a few weeks with the exception of a short sicilian parentesis.
I'll be writing and co-writing with some great people here.
I'll be
meeting friends
and eating well
100%love
here's a little quote for you someone I love passed to me once, that I never forgot.

THE ARMFUL by Robert Frost

This is a poem that I adore, yes, welcome to my Robert Frost days...
I translated it in italian and portuguese for you all.

love
from
me

The armful

For every parcel I stoop down to seize
I lose some other stuff off my arms and knees
And the whole pile is slipping, bottle, buns-
Extremes too hard to comprehend at once,
Yet nothing I should care to leave behind.
With all I have to hold with hand and mind
and heart, if need be, I will do my best
To keep their building balanced at my breast,
I crouch down to prevent them as they fall;
Then sit down in the middle of them all.
I had to drop the armful on the road
And try to stack them in a better load.

E a pilha inteira vai escorregando, garrafas, guloseimas
E o coracao, se preciso for, darei meu melhor jeito
Para manter esse amontoado amparado no peito.
Agacho-me para segurar enquanto caiam;
Depois sento-me no meio deles todos.
Tinha que espalhar a carga na estrada
E tentar empilhá-la de forma melhor.

Le braccia Cariche

Ogni pacchetto che mi chino a raccogliere,
qualche altro ne perdo dalle braccia o d'in grembo,
e tutto il mucchio vacilla, bottiglie, panini,
estremi troppo difficili a reggersi in una,
eppure niente voglio lasciare indietro.
mi piego giù sulle gambe per impedirlo, ma crolla;

troppo piccola e troppo dura
senza neanche accorgersene.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN - by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

NEW MEXICO

my eyes are still full of that sky
my lips are full of green chile
my heart wants to get lost in the Navajo nation
around the Shiprock, the rock with wings
....and never come back

NEVER FELT SO GROUNDED

I didn't mean to stay out of touch.
it's just that the last few months have been very busy. writing, traveling, recording.
Japan was amazing, lots of incredible food and great shows. Packed with people every night and great sound around us...Except: The first night I realized I forgot my elegant shoes, 5 minutes before I had to leave for the show, so I ended up singing BARE FOOT and I looooved it so much, that I sang the whole tour without shoes. Never felt so grounded while singing!

NY was coooooooold and rainy, so was my mood..uninspired and a bit gloomygray... So I bought myself a plane ticket and flew to Rio to visit Ipanema beach and my friend Daniel and to write some songs. I heard amazing people playing and met incredible artists.
Now I am in Italy, I just recorded a duet with PINO DANIELE one of Italy's most incredible singer-songwriters. It's gonna be part of his forthcoming release called "Ricomincio da 30" a double cd celebrating 30 years of his career.
The song is gorgeous and our voices blend like coffe and milk, like vanilla and hazelnut ice cream, like tomato and mozzarella, like sea and sky

I miss you all and please write when you can

less than ideal poem

In a less than ideal world, i make less than ideal choices, and it makes me realize how marginal are the choices I make because everything comes down to taking little less than ideal steps that combined together will lead to a real world of less than ideal circumstances therefore I leave you a less than ideal advise to keep living in what you love and doing it and ignore the less then ideal thoughts that make you a less than ideal man

PHOTO AFTER THE BLUE NOTE, yusuke, me, tony, pete, rich......happy end: soldoutbluenote3encores!!!

Hey Guys,
It's a happy day today. i finally saw the site it up...so...WELCOME to u all!!
I'm not sure whether I should write in Italian or English, when I write a song it's the melody that suggests the language, but with just words it's a different story.
I decided i'm gonna play it by ear and see how I feel daily and write accordingly..so welcome to my english day!
I'm in Rome, after the first round of promotion for "THE SPACE BETWEEN". It's going really well.

Rome in october is like winter flirting with summer, the fall, a bittersweet flavor, a generous city.
love is here to make you fall, then fly.

be well
